A severe fire broke out near the Rithala Metro Station in Rohini, Delhi, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving another person injured. This information was confirmed by the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).
According to police reports, the incident occurred late Friday night when several LPG cylinders exploded, intensifying the flames and causing panic among local residents.
Fire department officials noted that thick smoke was seen rising from the area, with locals struggling to salvage their belongings and evacuate to safer locations.
Initial assessments indicate that between 400 to 500 shanties were completely destroyed by the fire. Firefighters received the alert at 10:56 PM, prompting the dispatch of multiple fire engines and firefighting robots to the scene.
The police cordoned off the area and stationed additional fire trucks to prevent the fire from spreading further. A DFS official reported that the blaze was brought under control by morning. Unfortunately, a man named Munna lost his life in the fire, while another individual, Rajesh, sustained injuries.
